None of the sites listed below are classified as World Heritage sites by Unesco but they serve to supplement your knowledge of prehistoric times and lifestyles of the inhabitants of the valley. Most offer reconstructions of the different eras and children can imagine what life was like during these early periods. Many educational and recreational tools and activities often complement the visits. Useful for visitors adults and children.

The stratified prehistoric site of Ferrassie, Micoque and Moustier provide a good look at nearly 400,000 years of human occupation in the Périgord region through the different layers of sediment.

In the Roque Saint Christophe cliff, 1 kilometer long and 80 meters high, are carved many shelters and long air terraces. Occupied by man during the Middle Paleolithic era, the site was subsequently modified into a fort and troglodyte city from the Middle Ages to the end of the Renaissance.
